Is it really so hard to ask a question?
I’ve really been working with my kids to phrase their questions as questions. For example, if they say, “Mommy, I can’t find the remote,” I respond with, “Sucks to be you.” Or if they say, “I want a cookie,” I say, “That sounds good. Grab me one too.” Apparantly this is not a skill that most parents don’t teach their children, as evidenced by these phrases frequently heard in the library:
“I need more time on my computer.”
“I’m looking for a book.”
“I need to use a computer.”
“I have to do a report on XXX.”
“I need headphones for the computer.”
“I need help with my computer.”
I also find it interesting that the word “need” pops up so frequently, especially in association with computers.
